This past summer we finally spruced up the pool pavilion at Wades Court. I think spas that are just dropped into the backyard are so intrusive, so I essentially designed the pavilion around the jacuzzi. It's set right into the floor of the space. I had a custom made top produced that is structural and can be walked on. When the spa is not in use, and covered, you almost don't know it's there.
The curtain panels beside adding a nice sense of enclosure and luxury, are also very effective at screening this area from an adjacent street the winds just in around the side of the house just beyond the trees in the first photo.
It's somewhat still a work in progress, I hope to eventually add more large cushions and pillows that can be used on the floor atop the jacuzzi as a lounge area when desired. I'd also like to add some greenery of some sort, and maybe even some hanging lanterns for ambience. The problem, is that being on the end adjacent to a large open field, we get some pretty intense winds, so everything has to be very resilient.
We also plan to enclose this space with either temporary plexiglas panels or marine plastic in the winter to make it more usable. there is a door directly from the house onto
the platform.
This is a view of the screened porch located at the other end of the rear of the house.
A rear view without the curtain panels installed but shows the overall view of the area.
Me enjoying the fruits (chardonnay is a fruit isn't it?) of my labor with Don's mom Bernice.
