This was an empty lot purchased by PN Hoffman. HPRB asked for the building to specifically "not" mirror the exisiting row houses. At the corner is the 7 story
Union Row. We designed the new house to bridge the scale from the smaller 2 story houses. As the house is easily visible from 14th & V, we made the corner a tower element to puncuate the end of the row. In order to maximize the lot, the client wanted a 3 story design, while historic dicated 2 stories at the facade. The resulting solution is a split plan that steps up to to 3 stories at rear. This also allowed for a roof terrace at the front.
Part of the project included the resoration of the existing red brick adjacent, which is now painted white.
